This project is a tiny webserver that uses a PIC for doing all packet I/O and allowing for a web interface. A PIC webserver is a pretty far-out idea given the minute amount of memory, however this write-up (software available for download) proves that it can be done!

In a more ‘back to the basics’ type of project, here is a very simple electric generator. This project is designed around making a generator produce enough electric current to make a light glow. All the parts and the procedure for building it are included in the write-up.

While it might seem like a simple thing, sending the proper signal to a telephone to make it ‘ring’ is more complicated than it sounds. This write-up explains the process and gives sample code for generating the necessary signals.

The DIY laptop is probably one of the most novel yet seemingly useless projects I’ve seen in a while. If nothing it’s just fun to look at and see what one man can create now-a-days compared to decades ago.

Even zoologists seem to have their electronics mod’ing projects on the internet. This is a modified radio that has been altered for listening to the ultrasonic chirps that bats use to navigate. The modification is very straight forward and the write-up has all necessary parts & step by step instructions.

For those of you not familiar with anemometers. These little things are often used in weather stations to measure wind speed & pressure. This project write up shows you how to make one using an atmel ATmega. The author’s method for plotting data output is very clean (an html table).

Coil Guns also known as gaussian rifles have been around for a long time. The theory is so concrete that you can build one easily at home. This is a 3,000 joules single stage gaussian rifle. All necessary parts, circuits and even test videos are included in this write-up.

Since accurate accelerometers are now available everywhere, the first thing you do with one is to measure G-forces relative to gravity! This project creates an inexpensive & simple G-force meter using only a few parts.

Using a PIC and some simple electronics, build your own power meter! This project is surprisingly simple to do and gives straight forward output. Just be careful not to kill yourself with live housing wires; Pyro!
