Autonomous Directional Rotary Artificial Intelligence Navigational System

Posted June 27, 2013 by Chris

“Our final project in ECE 476 is a mobile robot with a developed neural network such that it evolves to avoid collisions into a circular vertical white wall while traveling at the fastest speed and straightest line possible without human intervention or external computers.”

PIC16F877A Based Data Monitoring System

Posted June 26, 2013 by Chris

“In this project we have used two types of different R.F Modules like 433Mhz and 315Mhz Interfaced to a Pic16f877a, HT640 for R.F Encoding and HT648 for R.F Decoding. We will use two sensors one for temperature sensing: LM35 and another one is a potentiometer. The two sensors have an output of analog signal and that analog signal is fed into to two adc channel of the pic16f877a.”

Bicycle Persistence of Vision Light Display

Posted June 25, 2013 by Chris

“In February of 2007 I spent a little while prototyping a board that turns any bicycle wheel into a moving display billboard using a single string of LEDs. The idea was to do something that would be very visible, turn itself on and off automatically, have enough processing power to dynamically generate bike computer style displays, and have enough memory to store full resolution bitmaps.”

Flexicopter – Glove Control Helicopter

Posted June 24, 2013 by Chris

“The purpose of our project is to control a toy helicopter using flex sensors attached to a glove. The flex sensors are intended to replace the remote control that is generally used to fly the helicopter.”

Open Source Satellite Initiative

Posted June 23, 2013 by Chris

“Developing a total D.I.Y. space program – (Building / Lauching / Operating). Must Have: Commercial electronic components ONLY spacecraft: Aerospace grade components are very expensive and even not possible to buy as an individual. Cheap launching cost. Private & cultural missions: needs worldwide discussions to justify future private space program”

OpenSprinkle

Posted June 22, 2013 by Chris

“OpenSprinkler is an open-source Internet / Ethernet sprinkler timer / controller based on the Arduino platform. It works with standard 24VAC sprinkler valves commonly found in household watering and irrigation systems. You may be planning to buy or have already purchased a commercial sprinkler timer / controller, but chances are that these systems provide a limited set of fixed functionality, and have no web scheduling and monitoring capability.”

Fujitsu D2151-A1 Conroe Hack

Posted June 21, 2013 by Chris

“As is usually the case there was a reason for the hardware being extremely cheap. The Fujitsu mobo couldn’t handle the Conroe CPU. It was essentially limited to the old Pentium/Celeron D power hogs. D’oh! But wait.. There’s an A2 revision of the board that handles Conroe cores, maybe success is just a bios mod away?”

Arduino DDS Shield

Posted June 20, 2013 by Chris

“ In this article we will go through the process of building this Arduino Waveform Generator Shield whilst simultaneously reviewing the bugs and features found during the construction and usage. This article will focus mainly on the hardware side of things since the firmware was pre-written for the Arduino.”

Arduino Interface To Humidity/Temperature Sensor

Posted June 19, 2013 by Chris

“Most people would just go out and buy a temp / humidity sensor and be done with it….Instead, I decided to build an accurate temp / humidity sensor with a Sensiron SHT11 to read the values, a RBBB Arduino kit to process everything and an Adafruit 128×32 OLED to display the results – all wrapped up in LEGO!”

CNC Prototype Machine (Arduino/Easy Driver)

Posted June 18, 2013 by Chris

“In my spare time I have been working on a tiny two axis CNC machine that will be powerful enough to move a pen around like a plotter. Future versions will be larger and handle more powerful tools, but this is a good start to work out the kinks.”
