Paddle Controlled Helicopter

Posted April 2, 2014 by Chris

"Our project was to create a new type of controller for a remote controlled helicopter. This new controller is in the shape of a hand paddle that a user can move around to control the movements of the helicopter."

Propeller LED Display (AT89S52)

Posted February 4, 2014 by Chris

"People often use ARDUINO platforms and other microcontrollers (pic, avr) for making a propeller LED display and it is a bit costly to have them. I am trying to make one using AT89S52 microcontroller. I’m using a 11.0592MHz crystal and a 7805 for power supply. LEDs are connected to the PORT0 of the MCU, 8 leds are used for displaying letters….the wheel is attached to 6mm shaft and 1000RPM metal gare motor."

Posted December 24, 2013 by Chris

"In this special Christmas edition of Zedomax DIY122, we will show you how to make the geekiest Christmas Tree in the world using LEDs, bathroom pipes, and an embedded cubloc module."

Cheap and Simple Quadcopter FPV Ideas

Posted November 20, 2013 by Chris

"FPV is one of my ultimate goals flying a quadcopter. The quadcopter FPV videos are just so amazing! You need at least a video receiver, transmitter and a camera for the FPV system, and it could get quite expensive."

Build an Arduino shield for Quadcopter

Posted October 11, 2013 by Chris

"I have been searching for ideas of making a Quadcopter Arduino flight controller Adapter to sit my Arduino nano board and the GY80, also have some header pins for motors and receiver to make the cabling tidy. There are a lot of Arduino shields people have designed for the Quadcopter. I didn’t follow any of the designs. I actually didn’t follow any planned design and solder the parts on the veroboard as I go along."

Quadcopter UAV Project

Posted August 24, 2013 by Chris

“Recently I’ve been working on a quadcopter UAV project. The on-board electronic system includes 3-Axis Gyro, GPS/INS, AHRS, 5.8Ghz FPV transmitter, GoPro Hero camera and a small Gumstix computer.”

Little Tips About Building Your Own RC helicopter

Posted July 2, 2013 by Chris

“Flying RC helicopter is really very exhilarating. Their versatility gives a RC pilot a complete access to the three-dimensional space in such a way that no other machines can! I have played RC helicopter for more than one year but still find that I have just learnt a few tricks that it can perform.”

Flexicopter – Glove Control Helicopter

Posted June 24, 2013 by Chris

“The purpose of our project is to control a toy helicopter using flex sensors attached to a glove. The flex sensors are intended to replace the remote control that is generally used to fly the helicopter.”

Open Source Satellite Initiative

Posted June 23, 2013 by Chris

“Developing a total D.I.Y. space program – (Building / Lauching / Operating). Must Have: Commercial electronic components ONLY spacecraft: Aerospace grade components are very expensive and even not possible to buy as an individual. Cheap launching cost. Private & cultural missions: needs worldwide discussions to justify future private space program”

YARB 1.0 (Yet Another Robotic Blimp)

Posted May 7, 2013 by Chris

“My main objective in this project is to work on core computer vision algorithms which enable the blimp to navigate through its envirnment autonomously. The camera is the most important sensor – it provides continuous live image capture for onboard ‘optical flow’ calculations, a very effective technique for obstacle detection and velocity measurement.”
