Digital Stethoscope With Display

Posted October 11, 2015 by Chris

"At the highest level, the design of our project centers around an acquisition circuit, data processing in two MCUs, and the output on a TV screen. The first part of the stethoscope is the acquisition unit, which consists of an actual stethoscope mated with a microphone, and an amplifier circuit. The microphone captures the audible signal from the body that is acoustically amplified by the stethoscope."

DIY Temperature And Humidity Wireless Data Logger

Posted October 10, 2015 by Chris

"I will not go into details on how to control humidity. Instead I’ll describe what motivated me to design and create my own temperature and humidity sensor which reports its readings every minute to a central Linux server."

OpenDrop – Digital Microfludics Plattform

Posted September 15, 2015 by Chris

"OpenDrop is a new design for an open source digital microfludics platform for research purposes. The device uses recent electro-wetting technology to control small droplets of liquids. Potential applications are lab on a chip devices for automating processes of digital biology."

Penelope: Modulo’s tea brewing robot

Posted August 13, 2015 by Chris

"Meet Penelope, our tea brewing robot. Penelope brews the perfect cup of tea by monitoring the temperature of the water and steeping the tea bag for the best time suited for that type of tea. "

Farrel’s Balancing Robot

Posted August 10, 2015 by Chris

"Over a year ago I started to work on a small balancing robot. Between learning more about communication protocols and feedback loops I also had periods of schoolwork that kept me from this hobby. In the end my little robot was balancing on his own and I could send steering and throttle commands wirelessly."

Project Sentry Gun

Posted July 21, 2015 by Chris

"On this site we have published complete directions on how to make your own sentry gun, which autonomously tracks, aims, and shoots at targets…We are a unique project in that everything we do is completely open-source. This includes 100% of our code, as well as our electrical schematics, and even the CAD design files for our Standalone Controller. Our system has been used on six continents and in more than 20 countries (so far), and is even used by the Australian Navy in their training program."

WHMS – Wearable Health Monitoring Systems

Posted July 20, 2015 by Chris

"Wearable health monitoring systems integrated into a telemedicine system are novel information technology that will be able to support early detection of abnormal conditions and prevention of its serious consequences. Many patients can benefit from continuous ambulatory monitoring as a part of a diagnostic procedure, optimal maintenance of a chronic condition or during supervised recovery from an acute event or surgical procedure."

Haptic Appointment Manager

Posted July 19, 2015 by Chris

"The Haptic Appointment Manager manages all of an individual’s appointments, ensuring they arrive on time and in the right location by subtly guiding them throughout the day.
This system uses a GPS receiver and a compass to maintain awareness of its absolute and rotational position. By interfacing with a calendar of time stamped waypoints, this system effectively guides the user to his appointments by vibrating in the direction of the next waypoint."

ECE5760 Robot Navigation Using Sound Localization

Posted July 16, 2015 by Chris

"The main idea behind this project was to construct a system on the Altera DE2 board that is capable of detecting the location of a sound source. We envisioned many purposes for such an instrument in gaming and other types of systems; however, to demonstrate our sound localizing capability in this project, we decided to use it for robot control."

Fully Functional Arduino Weather Station

Posted June 21, 2015 by Chris

" The last thing you want to do is clear up your Monday schedule to go kitesurfing and find yourself cursing the gods on a windless lake after two hours of driving. I needed to know the wind conditions of my favorite kitesurfing spot—in real time. So I decided to build my own weather station."
