“It’s quite a common problem when building electronics that some components need cooling which is usually done through some sort of heatsink and optional fans. Choosing the right cooling solution can be a difficult task because the real life behavior of the system is hard to predict or model. In my case I have faced the simple question quite a few times: how much heat can a cooling system dissipate?”

“This is a project I started about a week or so ago and have been working on when I find time after work. It’s a GPS and compass that temporarily uses an Arduino Nano micro-controller, Nokia 3310 screen, EM-406A SiRF III GPS receiver, and a simple (non-tilt compensated) magnetometer for compass heading.”

“I have a computer in my apartment which I mostly use for playing video games, but sometimes I like to access it remotely over the internet to do server tasks for me. The problem though is that gaming desktops use a lot of electricity when they’re running. So running the computer 24/7 would be too wasteful. Instead, I want to be able to turn on my computer from anywhere on the internet; whenever I desire to use it remotely.”

“Working in my lab with electronics I came across different little challenges once in a while, and noticed that I am missing tools to handle them efficiently. Just a quick list, I am sure you could add various items to the list…Of course these aren’t any issues that you could not handle with the tools you have. "AVR Mask1 is a led mask built around 74hc595 shift register and 8×8 led matrix.It has 4 8×8 led matrix, 2 for the mouth, and 2 for eyes. When the user get closer to the mask, the IR sensor placed on the back activate the mask."

"As we enter 2014, I thought I would post up a recap of what I’m working on. Primarily I’m developing a wireless method for controlling moving vehicles. In my particular case, this is Garden Scale (G) model train locomotives. However the principles and widgets I’m designing could be used to drive almost anything via real time wireless up to a distance of about 300 ft."

My DSLR does not have a wired remote capability and Hoya has decided not to include an interval timer on their low end DSLR…So, many months ago, I tore apart one of the Pentax IR remotes, to see what makes it tick."
