The idea of the Segway drove many people to try and build their own version. This segway is open source so all the code is there waiting for you. The project write-up lists & details out the parts used with lots of pictures. Be sure to watch the video!

The drive for renewable energy sources has been a heated issue lately. Here is a wind turbine project write-up that details out the process of using wind for generating electricity. The write-up is thorough and concise (but could use a few more pictures of the build process).

The handheld plasma gun is actually a mini Tesla coil. This project write-up shows you the steps necessary for making your very own handheld plasma gun & the parts you’ll need. Tesla coils can be very, very dangerous so always be extra careful around high voltage & high current applications.

The sentry gun project came out a while ago and showed what two crazy people with a paintball gun could do in a short amount of time. The fact that this project works means computer vision algorithms are indeed improving. Take a look, videos & construction details are all there.

This project is fairly dangerous so take care if you end up building it. It’s a diy air conditioner and is definitely a hack. The project write-up shows how the project is actually quite intuitive and offers lots of pictures to help you understand the process of building a simplified air conditioner.

The Tesla coil has been around for very long time and human fascination with it has never faded. The sound of high voltage seems to attract humans for some strange reason. This is a guide for building your very own solid state, single transistor Tesla coil.

There have been several previous posts on embedded web servers, and here is one more! This one uses the ATMEGA88 & ENC28J60 from microchip. These two chips paired together create a pretty solid web server with room left over for more. The write-up is in tutorial form so it is an easy read.

This is an awesome project made by some students at Georgia Tech. It’s a robot/machine that takes midi input and translates it over so that it can be played on guitar. No video samples, but there are some audio downloads of the robot playing that are very impressive.
