Timing circuits have been around for a long time and are very important in practically all applications. This tutorial offers simple insight & introduction to using the timers on microcontrollers (specifically the PIC).

Using a standard straight to USB (via EZ-USB) connector and re-wiring a keyboard a little bit, creates a nice MIDI input device. This project write-up details the process out and provides all hardware schematics & software needed.

The goal of the CMUcam project is to provide simple vision capabilities to small embedded systems in the form of an intelligent sensor. Since the project is open source, everything they’ve done is available for download and use in your own projects!

This is probably the most impressive use of Lego’s Mindstorms robotics kit. The robot does exactly what you’re thinking, solves the rubik’s cube. Build instructions, software & an awesome video are all available in the write-up.

Atmel’s line of AVR microcontrollers is very popular among both hobbyists and professionals. This write-up lists out some of the more affordable programmers for AVR as well as all the ‘free’ development tools necessary to get started.

This is a very, very informative write up on how to generate different types of sound using an Arduino. While it sounds like a simple thing to do, generating complex sound is a rather difficult task.

The MEAN gps project is meant to use inertial movement (sensed by accelerometers & gyros) to predict your exact location if your GPS reception goes dead. The project write-up includes a software overview & hardware schematics.

Being that my car already measures velocity & position, why not fill the void with an accelerometer & measure acceleration? The Personal G-Force Meter Does just that using standard 7-Segment LEDs for output. Check out the video for an overview of how it works!

The robot was named Fuzzy, after the type of intelligence given to it-Fuzzy Logic. It uses omni directional wheels and is controlled by a PIC. The fuzzy logic AI is used to give the robot a way to display emotions through its movement.

For all you guitar enthusiasts out there, here’s a nice little setup for getting your own guitar effects going. It takes the audio input and throws it all onto a breadboard for you to manipulate. It’s a cool little setup, check it out.
