PICAXE Mini-Flasher

Posted July 6, 2012 by Chris

“This project, called ‘Mini-Flash’, is a programmable LED Sequencer/Flasher that is based around the PICAXE 08M microcontroller. It is basically a spin-off of the Pro-Flash Programmable LED Flasher/Sequencer which is based around the larger Picaxe 18X microcontroller.”

2 Dice on a Tiny13!

Posted July 5, 2012 by Chris

“Here is an electronic dice kit based on an Atmel ATtiny13. I love the Tiny13 and one of my first projects was a digital dice. Nothing new, right? But have you seen 2 dice generated on just 5 I/O pins of a microcontroller? I hadn’t. But I knew it could be done and this is proof!”

Friday Night Drawbot

Posted July 4, 2012 by Chris

“Friday night turned into Robotics/Art night at the 2XL Makerspace. I remembered seeing this Drawbot Project, and while you can modify normal servos to be continuous rotation servos, I already had some continuous rotation servos on-hand, so we got to work.”

Three OLEDs Arduino Interface

Posted July 3, 2012 by Chris

“There are a number of cheap and adorable OLED displays appearing on ebay and elsewhere. But their parallel interfaces, enigmatic driver ics and funny voltage requirements make them tricky to use. These breakout boards make it easy to connect an oled to an Arduino or any other device with a SPI interface.”

Security Entrance System

Posted July 2, 2012 by Chris

“Our security system is a stand alone device that allows access to registered users identified by their magnetic cards. For this project, “access” is represented by a lit LED, showing how the system could be used to control an external locking mechanism.”

8051 Micro Car Parking System

Posted July 1, 2012 by Chris

“The main theme of this project is to design and implement an automatic control barrier. An automatic control barrier has much application in industry as well as in security systems and tool plazas. It gives a basic idea how to operate automatic gates using microcontrollers.

Electro Wire Stripper

Posted June 30, 2012 by Chris

“This is one of the best wire strippers I have ever used. If setup correctly, it can be very precise and give feedback telling when the blades have cut deep enough. ”

Wine-Saving AVR Temperature Controller

Posted June 29, 2012 by Chris

“Wine doesn’t like subzero temperatures, and during wintertime, my “winecellar” got pretty cold. There was an electric heating element, but the thermostat was broken, so it was either full burn or nothing. That’s how the temperature monitor/controller came to be.”

Fabkit i/o (aka Fabduino)

Posted June 28, 2012 by Chris

“Fabkit i/o (aka Fabduino) is an open-source Fabable Arduino Compatible Board. The latest Eagle board layout and schematic files are available for download and the website details out how to build it up and get started using the Fabkit.”

Micro n64 Controller

Posted June 27, 2012 by Chris

“When I originally wanted to start playing with the N64 controller protocol I used the only PIC I had on hand which was a 16f628a. Despite being my first real microcontroller project and killing many PICs I managed to create a functioning controller.”
