Robotic Eyebrows

Now, let's take a look at what we can do with these eyebrows once we're done with them. Many charts already exist on the internet that give great examples of how our faces yield a variety of emotions through the look of your mouths, eyes, cheeks, eyebrows and all parts of our face. Below you can see a simple chart that displays 6 key emotions in human beings.

If you take special note you can see that the eyebrows take a unique position in each emotional state and indeed they do not even exist in some. The system we are designing has only 1 point of movement so we cannot have or control the curve of an eyebrow, only 1 point of rotation. The following picture shows you the 3 possible eyebrow states for our system and the 9 possible states for the two eyebrows together on a blank face.

Some of the emotions in the above chart are easily identified even without additional changes to facial features. This shows you how powerful our body language is just with the eyebrows alone. The eyebrows have a common point of rotation which is just above and inbetween the eyes. When we start building, you will see why this is an important spot.
