The IR Range Sensor: Conclusion

Infrared Range Sensing
Infrared sensors have been around for a long time and are widely used in the public domain. Water facets, toilets, hand-dryers all have ir sensors embedded in them to detect proximity of objects.

What To Do Now
Now that you know the basics about infrared sensors look into using this in some application (of which there are many). You can also create a true model for understanding the output by interpreting the linear curve found in the data sheet as opposed to the 'hit or miss' type of implemenation we used in this tutorial.

Conclusion
This tutorial covered everything it should have. The basics of the sharp IR sensor were put forward for your consumption and an understanding of how to interpret the IR sensor output data with a PIC was reached. The software for this task was quite simple which again makes IR sensors a favorite for simple applications.
