### Re: #10 Schematics & Documentation [Post Homework Here]

What is the difference between a datasheet and a schematic?
Datasheet - gives information about a specific part
Schematic - conveys the design of an entire circuit

What is the circuit symbol for a power supply?

Draw a circuit that connects a +5v power supply, resistor and LED together so that when
everything is connected, the LED will turn on.

What information will you typically find on the first page of a datasheet for an electronic part?
Description of what its used for, summary of functionality, pin outs for different sized packages

Good answers! Thanks for following along with this first course, we'll have the next course, An Introduction To Digital Electronics, live in March 2013.

I'll make one note about your circuit drawing for question 3, adding a reference marker to ground would make the circuit look prettier.

All correct answers. Although I'll make a small point that its a good idea to add 'reference designators' or ways to identify parts on your schematic. So to your drawing I would add, V1, R1 and D1. In addition the value of the part is a good thing to have: +9v, 470 ohm, 5mm Red LED.

Hope you enjoyed this course! The Digital Course is coming in March 2013!
