Pipe bender control

Postby rooies13 » Sat Dec 17, 2011 10:06 pm

Hi

Can anyone help me make a pipe bender controller using a LCD as a display and using a pic for the control.
Input will be from a rotary shaft encoder.

What the controller need to do is display the angle of bend on the LCD and also it must be programmed to bend a certain degree.

Can this be done or not?

Thanks

Hi,

This can definitely be done. It's just a matter of building up the firmware for the PIC.

This tutorial builds a device a little similar to what you're talking about:

Encoder pulses are sent to a PIC's external interrupt pin which count RPM's. The device you want to build would do the same thing essentially, but the rotary counts would go through some formula to calculate Degrees, not RPM.
