The Autonomous Drifter

The autonomous drifter is an rc car with a modified transmitter that allows a computer to control it via the serial port. It has both manual and autonomous control using the keyboard.

Postby simonwai » Sun Jun 01, 2008 7:11 am

hi
i read that drifter project
about the vb script, i copied and pasted in a notepad and saved it correctly
and double clicked on it , but nothing happened but why?
also i wanna use hyperterminal to send date to the serial port
but what should I send to remote the car?
Sorry I am not good in electronics, but I really want to learn more
Please clear my doubts
Thanks so much in advance

Hi Simonwai,
If you've saved it correctly "test.vbs" then the icon should change from a notepad (txt) file: Image
to a script file: Image

I only tested on Windows XP, so I don't know if it'll work on other versions.

You can use hyper terminal to send data serially but the setup takes a bit longer than with the program I offered. I'd recommend using mine over hyper terminal.

If you have more questions, just ask :!:
:D

The .vbs file was simply meant to press keyboard keys programmatically into the good_terminal.exe program. This would then control the car with a premade selection of how it should drive. No software/hardware drivers necessary.
